Strong Communicator and External Relations Leader
Jennie Foglia-Jones is the Communications, Marketing & Government Affairs Sr. Manager for the Port of Olympia.
As the Communications, Marketing & Government Affairs Sr. Manager, Jennie is responsible for media relations, crisis communications, community engagement, branding, digital media and educational outreach, and works with all divisions of the Harbor Department to disseminate information to the public, media and industry stakeholders about the Port’s role in economic development. In addition, she is responsible for advising the Port’s Executive Director and the Port Commission on Port-related legislative matters and assisting in the formulation of the Port’s legislative agenda.
In her capacity as Senior Manager, Jennie serves as the Port’s representative to federal, state and local governments and oversees the activities of the Port’s legislative advocates in Thurston County and Washington D.C. She also directs the production of community and industry newsletters and other publications, produces video programming, develops international and local advertising and creates strategies to promote the advancement of the Port by informing, educating and engaging the Port’s diverse stakeholders.
Jennie began her career with the Port of Olympia in 1998. During her tenure at the Port, she has worked for most all departments and divisions at the Port. Some of her previous roles at the Port have included; Marine Terminal Assistant Facility Security Officer, Foreign Trade Zone #216 Administrator, Information Technology Coordinator, and Swantown Marina Front Desk.
In the community, Jennie is a proud member of the South Sound Career & Technical Education (CTE) Council and is a former board member for the Olympia Downtown Alliance. She is the former Head Dance Team and Cheerleading coach for North Thurston High School, obtaining 1st place in the Washington State Cheerleading coed AA/AAA division.
Jennie and her family reside in Lacey, Wash., where you can find them enjoying the outdoors and spending most weekends on the soccer fields watching their daughters play soccer.
