OLYMPIA – The Port of Olympia today announced the opening of three positions on its 17-member Port of Olympia Citizens Advisory Committee (POCAC). These roles are critical for advising on important community issues, including Budd Inlet development, activating the Port’s waterfront, and other key initiatives.
The POCAC is instrumental in supporting the Port Commission, staff, and community on a wide range of topics such as economic development, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for community members to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our region.
The Port is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment that mirrors the diversity of Thurston County. We encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply and contribute their unique perspectives to our advisory committee.
By bringing together a diverse array of voices, the Port aims to enhance the decision-making process and ensure a comprehensive approach to community needs. The POCAC provides valuable insights, recommendations, and feedback to the Port Commission, directly impacting the alignment of initiatives with the community’s aspirations.
“We believe that diversity is a strength, and we are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where everyone’s voice is heard,” said Camille St. Onge, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Commission Affairs. “We’re in the process of evolving the Citizens Advisory Committee platform and are looking for community members to contribute to the future of the Port of Olympia. We want to hear the unique perspectives of our community.”
Applicants must be residents of Thurston County and available for regular monthly committee meetings, with the possibility of additional sub-committee meetings. Committee member terms are three years.
The Port welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, genders, ages, disabilities, and sexual orientations. To apply for a position, visit the Port’s POCAC applications webpage. Applications are due by June 10, 2024.
