Construction Notice & Traffic Alert: Marine Drive NE Pavement Restoration Project
What’s Happening?
The Port of Olympia will be restoring Marine Drive NE between Olympia Avenue and the Franklin/Market Street intersection (about 0.47 miles). This work includes removing and rebuilding the roadway, adding new pavement, updating pedestrian ramps to meet ADA standards, and repainting pavement striping.
Why This Project?
The roadway has reached the end of its service life and no longer meets current safety and performance standards. The restoration will:
-Improve roadway safety
-Enhance pedestrian accessibility
-Better support freight and local traffic
Project Schedule
Start Date: September 8, 2025
Duration: About 45 days
What to Expect
-Lane closures and traffic detours during construction
-Construction noise and activity in the area
-Pedestrian access will be maintained where possible with signage provided
-Loose gravel- motorcycles & bicycles use extreme caution
Funding
This project is funded through a grant from the Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board.
