Port of Olympia Announces the Return of Free Marine Terminal Public Tours

OLYMPIA – The Port of Olympia is announcing the return of its popular free marine terminal public tours, offering an insider’s look into the heart of maritime operations. Beginning June 4 and running through October, these tours will be held on the first Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m.

During these engaging one-hour outdoor walking tours, participants will have the opportunity to witness firsthand the various stages of cargo operations and the environmental efforts that make the Port of Olympia a leader in the industry. From the bustling activity of vessels, trucks, and trains moving goods to their final destination, to gaining insights into Thurston County’s connection with the global trade network, attendees will grasp a comprehensive understanding of the port’s vital role in the regional and global economy.

“This presents an exceptional opportunity for community members to explore our working waterfront, gain insights into global trade, learn about the Port’s history, and understand how the Port’s role in international trade impacts our local economy,” said Alex Smith, Executive Director of the Port of Olympia.

Participants will have an exclusive look at the dock, where they can observe the intricate processes involved in cargo handling and get up close to the impressive equipment that powers these operations.
