As the Human Resources and Administrative Director, Ben oversees the Port’s HR and Administrative Divisions and advises the Executive Director and Port Commission on human resources, public records, information technology and administrative matters. He ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.

Ben works collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team and Senior Managers to develop and maintain a positive workplace culture and environment. Ben engages with Port Directors, senior managers, and staff in support of the “One Port” philosophy and collaborative team approach to achieving Port sustainability, resilience, and success.

Ben brings to the Port a strong background in Human Resources, Organizational Design & Development, Operations, and Employment Law. His fifteen years of HR experience includes serving as the HR Operations Manager for WaTech, and he more recently served as the Director for Human Resources for the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE), a public sector labor union. Ben earned his Human Resources Management certification through Villanova University and also a received his SHRM-SCP in 2019. Ben enjoys spending time with his wife and children and doing as many activities outside as possible.
