As the Environmental Planning and Programs Director, Shawn oversees the Port’s implementation of a comprehensive environmental management program. This includes compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permits, planning and execution of environmental restoration projects, and ongoing assessment and monitoring of environmental conditions.

Shawn works collaboratively with the executive leadership team and senior managers to ensure that environmental protection and stewardship are priorities for the Port. Shawn engages with Port directors, senior managers, and staff in support of the “One Port” philosophy and collaborative team approach to achieving Port sustainability, resilience, and success.

Shawn brings to the Port a strong background in environmental program development and management. His thirty years of environmental management experience include program development and management at private industry, WA state agencies, and most recently 15 years managing environmental programs in King County.

Shawn earned his BS in Environmental Science from the University of Washington. Shawn enjoys time with his wife and daughters travelling and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
