Port of Olympia Commission Elects New Leadership for 2025

Olympia, WA – The Port of Olympia Commission has unanimously elected Commissioner Jasmine Vasavada as its new president during a commission meeting on Monday, January 13, 2025. Commissioner Vasavada succeeds Commissioner Bob Iyall, who served as president in 2024. In addition, Commissioner Maggie Sanders was elected vice president, and Commissioner Sarah Tonge retained her position as secretary.

As president, Commissioner Vasavada will preside over commission meetings, set the meeting agenda, and sign documents on behalf of the commission. In the absence of the president, the vice president, Commissioner Sanders, will assume these responsibilities. As secretary, Commissioner Tonge will continue to keep the official records of minutes, motions, and resolutions.

Outgoing Commission President Iyall was acknowledged for his leadership in 2024. “We want to extend our deepest thanks to Commissioner Iyall for his dedicated service and leadership last year,” said Commissioner Amy Evans Harding. “Your guidance helped set a strong foundation for our work, and we appreciate the leadership you provided.”

In response to her election, Commission President Vasavada expressed her gratitude and commitment to the role: “I’m grateful for the nomination, and I will strive to run meetings with the same courtesy and kindness that I’ve seen demonstrated by both Commissioner Iyall and Commissioner Evans Harding. I’m excited to work with all of you as we move forward in our shared mission for the Port of Olympia.”

The election of new leadership comes as the commission prepares for an exciting year ahead, with a focus on fostering economic growth, community engagement, and furthering the Port’s mission to provide essential services to the region.
