The Port of Olympia would like to notify community members of increased helicopter activity scheduled for Saturday, April 12, through Wednesday, April 16, at Olympia Regional Airport.
The increased activity will be most noticed during the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Additional activity will take place on the evening of Sunday, April 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The days and hours may vary slightly due to unforeseen weather delays. This increase in helicopter activity is due to the required annual recertification training that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) helicopter pilots must complete each year in preparation for the firefighting season. The training is time-sensitive and requires significant coordination for DNR to be prepared on time each year.
