Green Business Award

Celebrating Sustainability:
Port of Olympia's Recognition at the Thurston Chamber Green Business Awards Forum

We’re pleased to share an exciting moment from the Port of Olympia! Recently, we had the honor of participating in the Thurston Chamber’s Green Business Awards forum and were humbled to be recognized as one of the Thurston Chamber Green Business award recipients.

The Thurston Chamber’s Green Business Awards which took place at Saint Martin’s University Norman Worthington Center, was a celebration of sustainability and innovation. Over 100 businesses in Thurston County went above and beyond this year to earn the coveted Thurston Green Designation, and it was truly inspiring to be amongst such an esteemed company.

One of the highlights of the event was the Green Business EXPO, where attendees had the opportunity to learn from and engage with businesses that received the Thurston Green Business Designation this year. It was wonderful to see the commitment of our community to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.

In addition to the EXPO, the event featured an Electric Car Show outside, courtesy of the Thurston Climate Action Team. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the latest advancements in sustainable transportation and promote eco-friendly alternatives to traditional vehicles.

The keynote address by Elise Landry, Chef and Co-Owner of Chicory Restaurant in Olympia, was another memorable moment. Elise’s passion for sustainable food systems, seasonal eating, and local sourcing resonated deeply with all attendees and served as a source of inspiration for us all.

As for the Port of Olympia, we are incredibly proud to be recognized for our outstanding sustainability efforts. We remain committed to fostering economic growth while prioritizing environmental stewardship and sustainability in all that we do.

We extend our gratitude to the Thurston Chamber for organizing this important event and for recognizing the efforts of businesses like ours. Together, we can create a more sustainable future for our community and beyond.
